Whiz Kids

Whiz Kids is an after-school tutoring program that is run by volunteers who coordinate tutors
and students in a one-on-one setting to facilitate the students' accomplishment of becoming
proficient at their grade level in all their subjects. In conjunction with the Denver Public
Schools, students are selected by their teachers to be in the program. A DPS teacher is selected
to be on site during the tutoring time. All tutors are registered and screened by Whiz Kids, and
then are assigned a student. At Crossroads we have three sessions of Whiz Kids. Two are for
elementary students and meet on Monday evenings from 6:30–8pm. One session is in Spanish and one
is in English. On Thursday our third session is held in English for middle school students.
Tutors are able to stay with their students for more than one year, as long as the students stay
in the program. Parents sign a contract, understanding the partnership that Crossroads has with
Whiz Kids and the Denver Public School which their child attends. For more information about the
sessions at Crossroads contact Miss Pat at 303-922-8772 or by using the
Contact Page. For more information about
Whiz Kids and their programs throughout the state of Colorado, contact them at 303-504-9449 or at
