About Us
Who We Are
Crossroads of the Rockies is a non-profit, Christian, compassion center that serves the communities
around it. Located on the west side of metro Denver, we serve people in both Denver and the west
suburbs. We seek to provide resources for the needs of our communities. Currently we operate a food
bank; a clothing distribution center; classes for parenting, ESL, and computer; and various special
events for the entire community.
We also meet the needs of youth by providing an after school program on Mondays and Wednesdays, WHIZ
Kids tutoring, basketball programs, cheerleading/tumbling programs on Thursdays, a computer lab, various other youth events throughout the week, and a
youth-run, silk-screening business called Youth Scribble Ink.
We meet the needs of children by providing an after-school program on Mondays and Wednesdays, WHIZ
Kids tutoring, basketball programs in both Spanish and English on Monday evenings, cheerleading/tumbling programs, and various other special children’s
events throughout the year. We have special day and overnight programs and events for both youth and
children during the summer months.
We have a small staff that enables a large group of volunteers to effectively facilitate our programs.
We partner with various affiliate organizations that also provide resources we do not have. We are
governed by a board of directors.
Our Vision
To transform lives by restoring hope, empowering people, and creating community to impact our world.
Our Mission
To show people the love of God through compassion ministries, that they may come to know Christ.
Our History
In 1989 through the vision of a small group of Denver area Nazarene pastors, “Care Unlimited”
was begun. It addressed the issue of those who needed food and clothing. In 1995 that ministry moved
into a renovated building it purchased, and was renamed Crossroads of the Rockies, as most people were
served at a crossroads in their lives. Founded and directed by Dean Cowles, who still serves as
president of the board, this organization went about the business of serving the Westwood neighborhood.
God has accomplished great things through Crossroads of the Rockies. Many, many people have been fed,
clothed and prayed for. Hundreds of children and youth have been mentored, tutored, and helped. Many
people have come to Crossroads in crisis and found hope and healing. In the summer of 2008, after 13
years in a location on West Kentucky, Crossroads was asked by the church who shared the building to
relocate, and God graciously provided a new partnership. Currently Crossroads of the Rockies is located
in the All Nations Ministries building at the corner of Dale Court and Mississippi Avenue in Denver.
There it shares this facility with three healthy, kingdom-minded churches who together are striving to
be the hands and feet of Jesus to the surrounding communities. There are new horizons and new hope in
this new location, along with a much bigger facility and an increased client population.
